In order to save energy and reduce carbon emissions, from September 1, 2021, the European Union introduced a new regulation, the light source energy label will be re-graded, the new label will be used from A (the most efficient) to G (the least efficient) grade.
The new standards are more stringent, with very few products initially achieving "A" and "B" ratings, leaving room for more efficient products to gradually enter the market. The most energy efficient products on the market today are usually labeled "C" or "D". The labels will contain a number of new elements, including QR codes linked to an EU database where consumers can find more detailed information about the product.
Important Time
May 1, 2021 Manufacturers can begin registering their light sources in the EPREL database and entering the required product data.
October 2021 Phase-out I - As of a specific date, certain lamps may no longer be placed on the market.
March 31, 2023 Only new labels will be allowed starting March 31, 2023
September 1, 2023 Phase-out II - This is the end of the phase in which products are prohibited from no longer being placed on the market.
Understanding Energy Labeling
1. Scale of energy efficiency classes from A to G
2.The energy efficiency class of this product.
3.Energy Consumption of the light source in on-mode, expressed in kWh of electricity consumption per 1 000 hours.
4. QR Code
5. The number of this Regulation that is ‘2019/2015’
Tips for consumers, wholesalers and traders:
1. buy lamps with LEDs, which use up to 90% less energy than standard incandescent lamps
2. choose LED luminaires that can be equipped with timers, motion detectors, heat sensors or photocell controllers wherever possible.
3. program an outdoor/indoor lighting schedule that coincides with your location's natural daylight cycle by using a smart timer switch.
ROKEE's luminaires are generally in the 140lm/w-160lm/w range, which is in the D class, but please don't worry, the performance of our products hasn't changed, what has changed is the energy unit.
