How do you choose the right Driver for your LED light?
LED driver can convert 220v AC power into low voltage power with positive and negative poles, and then supply power to low voltage devices. The electronic devices used with LED driver are mainly light emitting diodes (LEDs). Because it regulates the power needed to drive an LED or an array of LEDs, it is often referred to as an LED driver. the LED driver is the most important part of an LED light. the LED driver is the electrical device that regulates an LED or a string of LEDs, and is a key component of the LED circuit. the LED driver provides the proper current and voltage to make the LED chip The LED driver ensures that the voltage and current of the LED chip of the LED light remains within its operating range and is not affected by fluctuations in the power supply (mains).
What features do you need?
Before choosing the right LED driver, I think you should know which kind of function you need for your LED driver. Here we list a few features that customers often ask for in LED lights, such as Timed Dimming, OLC, 0-10V, Dali, D4i, Auxiliary Power and so on.
Time Dimming
This is a dimming function to change the output of LED street light at night.
Normally, from 0:00 to 4:00, when the road is less busy, the lights are at their lowest brightness, which saves energy consumption and is environmentally friendly. The virtual midnight timed dimming function will make the LED light output lower from 24:00.
When the LED driver comes with a preset program. For example, we set the LED driver to work at 100% for 6 hours, then 30% for the next 4 hours, then back to 100% for the next 2 hours.
If the lights are turned on at 18:00 and off at 6:00, then the brightness is 100% from 18:00 to 24:00, 30% from 24:00 to 4:00 and 100% from 4:00 to 6:00.
With this dimming curve, we can save up to 40% to 60% of energy.
Output Lumen Compensation (OLC)
Output Lumen Compensation (OLC) is used to maintain a constant light output over the life of an LED by driving new LEDs at a lower current when they are new, and then gradually increasing the drive current over time to offset the decrease in LED lumens. With the Sosen SS-VA and Inventronics EUM series drivers, our LEDs maintain their initial output and can extend the life of the LED chips.
0-10V Dimming
0-10V dimming controls the output current of the driver by varying the voltage signal from 0 to 10 volts, which in turn adjusts the brightness of the light. When the dimmer is set to 10V, the fixture outputs maximum brightness; when the dimmer is set to 0V, the fixture turns off the output.
In addition, a 0-10V dimming system usually requires two signal lines: one for V+ and one for V-, through which the dimming signal is transmitted.
DALI
DALI dimming, known as Digital Addressable Lighting Interface, is a data transmission protocol for lighting systems designed to control and optimize lighting fixtures by means of digital communication. DALI defines the communication between lighting equipment and system equipment controllers, supports open systems, and is suitable for the management and control of a wide range of lighting equipment.

1. Bidirectional communication: DALI is a bidirectional communication protocol that not only sends control commands, but also feeds back the status of the lamps and lanterns to the system, providing more comprehensive control and management.

3. Digital dimming: Compared with traditional analog dimming, DALI provides more precise and stable dimming effect, suitable for occasions requiring fine control.

5. Simple wiring: The DALI system allows power and control wires to be routed simultaneously without the need for sub-slot processing, simplifying the installation process.
DALI-2

D4i
D4i is an extension of DALI-2, D4i products are DALI-2 products with some new specific features including Zhaga sockets.D4i certification applies to DALI-2 products that fulfil the auxiliary power, diagnostic and power metering functions required for DALI in luminaires. All D4i certified products are also DALI-2 certified, and these products can choose to carry either the D4i logo or the DALI-2 logo, or both. Conversely, of course, DALI-2 certified products are not necessarily D4i certified.
Auxiliary Power
All LED drivers provide an output for the LED circuit. However, auxiliary power is an additional output to help support other devices that need power. Auxiliary power can be used to power microwave sensors, Zhaga sockets, and more. So when you have LED fixtures that need to be installed in these devices, an LED driver with an auxiliary power supply is a good choice.
